Moonlit paradise

There is nothing particularly special about this shot, but there is something I find really peaceful about it. Perhaps its just memories of being there as opposed to the actual image itself. Would be interested to hear what others think.

The Grown-Up Tree House of Your Dreams

A livable, fully functioning tree house is the ultimate dream home for romantics and nature lovers alike, but executing the fantasy is a lot harder than conceiving it. This is what makes Aibek Almasov’s modern Tree in the House design a totally remarkable feat.

The Kazakh architect of A.Masow Design Studio has created a home that is centered around a full-grown tree, with a cylindrical glass structure subbing in for the traditional four walls and a roof. The design might not offer much in the way of privacy, but it does make for a stunning, 360-degree forest viewing experience. A spiral staircase in the center takes inhabitants to four circular floors, complete with a bathroom, kitchen, and bedroom. (Source)

Now, I don’t know about you guys but I could really use this.

Project Monsoon  Clever colorful street art that only appears when it rains

After the Superhydrophobic Street Art, which uses a superhydrophobic coating to create designs which appear only in the rain, here is the Project Monsoon, which uses the same concept, this time with hydrochromic painting, which reveals its color only when wet. This amazing and clever project was designed by a Korean team of designers, in collaboration with Pantone, to provide color to the streets of Seoul during the rainy season, while paying tribute to the Korean culture. A brilliant idea! Source: ufunk

Paintings by Andrew Salgado

Andrew Salgado (b.1982, Regina, Canada) has situated himself as one of the eminent emerging painters in both the UK and North America. He has been listed by Saatchi as “one to invest in today” (Sept 2013), lauded by esteemed critic Edward Lucie Smith as a “dazzlingly skillful advocate” for painting, and been endorsed by Tony Godfrey (author of Phaidon’s Painting Today) as an “exciting artist with a particular vision”.

My work explores concepts relating to the destruction and reconstruction of identity – a process that attempts to re-consider the conventions of figurative painting through a continued pursuit toward abstraction. The goal is to create paintings that engage with matters beyond what is immediately visible, quite often consciously and reflexively questioning the nature of painting itself and a politicization of identity as something deconstructed, created, and tangible (…)
